- and the idea behind TAP
Hey, I’m Maria – a Danish, thirty-something mother and yoga teacher who has lived abroad for a decade. I have an educational background in business, but when I became a mother, I became a workout fanatic, fell in love with yoga and ended up switching fields.
When I was on maternity leave with two children, I found it hard to prioritize and find the time to practice any type of sport or fitness – especially if it required me to leave the house (with a baby on my arm). However, I could feel how much my body and mind needed it. I knew I had to find an efficient way to practice from home, preferably with a personal trainer who was flexible in terms of my time and needs.
This is how the idea behind TheActivePortal (TAP) was born. Many people experience time as the main obstacle that keeps them from showing up to workouts. It can, as in my experience, be parents on maternity leave, but also corporate professionals and others struggling to fit exercise into their schedules. By bringing online 1:1 yoga sessions directly into your living room or office, TAP eliminates the time barrier while still ensuring a high-quality, personalized yoga practice that helps you reach your goals.

What can you expect in a TAP session?
You can expect an approach that’s probably different from the classic way of teaching yoga, where we follow a set sequence. The 1:1 TAP method focuses entirely on you — your wants, your needs, and your current state of being. This flexible approach allows me to guide you based on your mood and energy level.
I also practice yoga this way myself because, on some days, I feel like doing a power session and sweating to techno beats, whereas on other days, I need to calm my nervous system with breathing exercises.
What you can always count on is that no TAP session is ever the same. Every class is modern, creative, and uniquely tailored to you — designed to challenge both body and mind, helping you discover new strength, balance, and energy each time you step onto the mat.
